Wellington Softball Association is proud to announce the return of our off-season programme, Capital Stars! A girls-only programme designed for under 13 & 15 girls.

Join our highly decorated group national & regional coaches to develop your game this winter. The Capital Stars programme runs across 3 locations within the Wellington Region. Each location will have 3 sessions over a 3-week period. Over this time frame the girls can expect to learn new drills, expand their softball IQ,  tools to create a strong mindset, arm care, recovery, and receive tips and knowledge from experienced coaches. 

Registrations are for all 3 sessions at each location; spots are limited to 30 so get in quick! First come, first serve. Please ensure you register for the session that is closest to your club e.g. All Porirua/Johnsonville area clubs register for the Newlands sessions, and all city-based clubs register for the city sessions. 


Northern hub:(Coast District Players)

Location: Paraparaumu Memorial Hall

Dates: June 8th, 15th, and 22nd

Times: 12:15pm-2:30pm


Central hub:(Western Bays Players)

Location: Pukehuia Park

Dates: June 29th, July 6th, and 13th

Times: 12:15pm-2:30pm


Southern hub:(City Players)

Location: Rongotia College

Dates: July 20th, 27th, and August 3rd

Times: 12:15pm-2:30pm


Age: 12yo - 16yo

Cost: $25 per session/ $75 total

Includes: 3 weeks of skill set training, mental training, Q&A with the coaches


Meet the coaches:

Charlotte Pointon-  

​​​​​​​Played all age grades for Wellington & Western Bays reginal team as well for the White Sox and attended 2 World Championships. In her years for playing experience Charlotte has many accolades including a school title for Wellington East Girls College, MVP at the U19s tournament, as well as Top Batter at the NFC tournament. Currently she is assistant coach for PK Prem1 Women and played NFC for Hawkes Bay.

Hope Weber- 

A versatile infielder and powerhouse at the plate, Hope has been a representative on both the regional and national levels. Throughout her career she helped usher multiple teams to championship titles. Including Miramar Prem1 team in the Wellington and Intercity competitions. As well as several for Wellington teams U15, U17, U19, and NFC tournament where she received Top Batter. Currently Hope is the head coach for PK Prem1 Women and played NFC for Hawkes Bay. 

Maiarangi Waipara-

A catcher and outfielder who grew up playing for PCU. and now plays for the Prem1 Miramar Women. Within her career so far, she has had the privilege to play for New Zealand at the national level in places such as the states, Australia, Brazil, and at the U18 World Cup qualifier. Her most recent endeavours include her debut on the Wellington NFC team and preparation for the Canada World Cup, before heading to the states continuing her softball career and education. 

Talia Giorgio- 

An Argentina native how represented her country in more than 15 international tournaments alongside a multitude of New Zealand representative teams. A very decorated athlete Talia holds two above the rest, Argentina’s 2010 Pitcher of the year and 2023/24 NFC Top Batter. 

 Brittany Jacobsen- 

Has eight years of coaching and twelve years of playing experience. Within her coaching career thus far she has worked with youth, high school, travel ball, collegiate, and professional teams. As an athlete she was a versatile player starting in every position besides the circle. Brittany received accolades in every year of here high school and college competition. Currently the WSA Development Officer.  


We are proud to have support from elite softball figures within our community. They offer a wealth of softball expertise that they are keen to share with our young softball community!!

Club representatives and coaches are welcome to observe and support the delivery of this programme.
